Newbie Heating Pad Question

I recently received a nice used heating pad from a friend, but it can't stick. Would taping it on to my terrarium be unsafe? How do you suggest I attach it?

I wouldn't use duct tape. It will harden after a while and is impossible to remove. Aluminum tape sticks very well, is meant to withstand heat and won't leave any residue when you unstick it.

Confusing isn't it... LOL

Aluminum tape works better. Stick onto the pad better and you can take off if need be latter on.
Problem is ..you have duck tape on hand and it works about the same depending on the brand you buy.
But you'll never you foil tape for anything else. LOL

You'll hear latter that you must use aquarium sealant. Why ?? I say
You're not housing fish, just using a fish tank . Using silicone caulk is cheaper, work just fine and can be use for other things.

I use aluminum tape for all kinds of stuff! Like taping plastic mesh over my heat vents to hatchling-proof my bedroom. Or to secure temp probes and stat probes in my rack. Or to secure cords from my GPS, etc., on the dash in my truck. You can cut it into tiny quarter inch slivers which work great for making wires stay put. It also holds the ductwork from my AC to my garg gecko viv.

And just to muddy the waters even further, I've never taped any of my heat mats to anything!

Duct tape degrades with heat. Also it leaves residue. I recommend aluminum tape or electrical tape. There are plenty of uses for those tapes, namely anywhere you don't want to leave residue and degrade over time with heat. Duct tape is great for quick fixes, not so great for long term solutions.
