I'm not sure I qualify as 'new' so I'm guessing newish! I've currently got one male albino motley cornsnake, and I just placed an order with a LLL reptile store for a female butter motley! They're hoping she'll be in tomorrow! (Can't wait!)

That's my male albino motley when I'd had him about a week. Since then, we've had some trials - from him escaping and getting caught on tape to him not knowing how to coil his prey. He has a not so creative name - Snakey. I couldn't find a fitting name so I kept calling him Snakey and well... it stuck haha. I've already come up with my name for the female butter motley. My close friend helped me come up with the name, Popcorn.

I do have a potentially not so smart question, when people put: 0.1.0 corn snakes, I know it stands for the gender, does it go: Male.female.unknown or female.male.unknown or am I wrong? Thanks!!

Hello!
Only unasked questions fall into the "not so smart" category.
This is exactly what forums such as these are for!

Your first assumption is indeed correct.
"0.1.0 = male.female.unknown"

Awesome, thanks so much!! My female butter motley came in today which was amazing! They had told me there was a 5% chance of that and she'd probably take a few weeks to come in! She's a feisty little bugger! Didn't even let me pick her up to transfer her from the deli cup to the temporary cage! Hopefully she settles down enough that I can start handling her in a week or two and work on taming her down. She's a real beauty (at least I think so)

The male albino motley has the most original name ever - Snakey. Though I must say his official name is William Snakespeare, he is just called Snakey because for the first month I couldn't think of a very original name and now it's pretty stuck as that. The female butter motley is named Popcorn because she's a butter corn and well, butter corn usually is Popcorn! So my snakes are PopCorn and Snakey. Popcorn is quite small - even smaller than the tiny Snakey was. She seems so tiny to me haha

She's adorable but she's so dang jumpy! She's fresh from a breeder and snake racks (as in packed yesterday). My male was kept in a 10 gallon with 6 other babies at the store before I snagged him (his cage was in bad condition, his shed was stuck on his tail and his cage mate was dying from a bite/wound and the staff could care less) and he was very friendly when I first picked him up. From the first day I never had any problems with him. He let me handle him all I wanted at the store and never showed any signs of frustration. From the minute I got Popcorn home, all she's wanted to do is nip at me - though I don't blame her. She's young and scared

I tend to use nip instead of strike - I've worked with dogs really up until now haha so bear with me when I use canine type phrases

I have a couple that are still a little jumpy too. I am just really patient with them and handle them without distractions in the room, with slow and deliberate movements. They will get the hang of it in time.

Yeah, I'm going to take plenty of time with her. I'll be sure to take it really slow, keep her in my room with me and only handle her for little bits at a time when it's quiet. I want to make sure she becomes okay with my handling with her
