NewSnake Morph ?

Hi, long story short, I rescued a corn who has been housed with a ball python for the last 3 years in a tank too small for just one of them.
I have them both sorted, but I'm curious about the morph. I already have a normal. But this guy has similar markings, though very muted and as if he has a thick coat of red painted over him. Very sparse belly checkers, too. He shed on Friday.
I'm told he is about 6-7 years old. He only weighs 233g and is about 32" long.
My 2 year old is 312g and 51" long, so I'm pretty sure this guy very undersized.
Belly pics in comments.

Hi, I can't help with morph, but thank goodness for these guys that you came along. Poor babies. It makes me crazy when people keep different species together who have different husbandry requirements. Are they both in good health other than being so small?

Thank you! They are both small and on the thin side, but no mites or anything. And actually quite friendly. Other than needing a brief bath because of being a bit stinky, I think with the right living conditions and feeding, they will do great.
I saw the add for them on Craigslist and the pic shocked me. The corn was curled up on top of the python! They'd obviously been forced to hide together and he'd removed the hide for the photo.
I actually live 6 hours drive from where they were, but we were visiting friends last weekend so I picked them up

I believe I saw the ad in question as well. Good to see they will receive proper care now. This guy looks masque, probably super masque from the head pattern. It wouldn't surprise me if he were originally sold as a bloodred, but I'd bet he's only possibly het diffused.

Bloodred/diffused? Those don't look like actual checkers. A better belly shot would help a lot.

Some people just REALLY SUCK!! (Why would anyone do something like that to two defenseless little snakes? Or to ANY animals, for that matter? Despite the fact that I am an educated AND licensed professional who specializes in abnormal (HUMAN) behavior, as long as I live I doubt I will EVER be able to understand how callous some people - if that's what you wanna call them! - can be). And that is sad.

I learned a long time ago that if someone has an inability to be compassionate towards other animals, THEN that is someone who most probably CAN'T be trusted when it comes to the treatment of fellow-humans!!

I know that it is just an opinion, but I happen to feel strongly about it!!!

I feel the same about people mistreating animals. I do, however, think with this guy it was pure ignorance and then life crowded out the concern for the snakes. That's not acceptable, but it's better than outright unconcern or malice.
He gave them to me with everything he had for them, and didn't ask for money (not that I would've paid him).
As for the morph, thank you for the suggestions. I was guessing masque as well, or possibly bloodred that wasn't as red as they initially thought. I'll try to get some pics of the belly in sunlight later today.

The fact that they were underfed and thereby stunted bothers me even more than the cohabbing. Let's be grateful he didn't try to cohab with a king snake. So glad you have them now and that they will get the life they deserve!

So you do think their growth is stunted? I was wondering about that.
Also, when I removed the dirty pine chip substrate, the UTH had not been used with a thermostat so it had cracked the glass. I measured the temp on the glass surface before I plugged it into the thermostat. It was over 110f

Wow- I can't make the call. Looks like split belly checks? That red wash isn't influencing my opinion, lots of not bloodreds have it.

Some nicely diffused sides, but it's hard to say for sure. I still believe it's supermasque because of the small edges of checkers. I would think masque and diffused together would have eliminated them entirely.

. . . .

You are being WAY too tolerant (and I'm a social worker!!). While you might me right about the person being overwhelmed with life, he or she was organized and functional enough to manipulate a computer application with precision and skill. To purposely turn a blind eye to the needs of a helpless animal - or TWO, in THIS case! - is not just neglect, but mistreatment and outright abuse.

Albert Einstein, other than making contributions toward the physical sciences, had an intense insight into the minds of human beings, and amongst his acute observations were the following:

"The indifference, callousness, & contempt that so many people exhibit toward animals is evil . . because it results in great suffering and an incalculably great impoverishment of the human spirit!"

He also opined that, "the world will not be destroyed by those who DO evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything!"

While I applaud your thoughtfulness and am thankful you were there for that poor cornsnake (what happened to the ball python? :eek1:), I sincerely believe there should be a law that would hold someone like that accountable with some serious community service and/or jail time! They put folks in jail for doing drugs but NOT for hurting animals?

I don't think so. Sorry, couldn't let that one go by without giving my own .02.

BTW, pls tell me someone took in that ball python! (Just hoping!)

Just noticed that!!! :headbang:

On behalf of that poor, neglected, & mistreated cornsnake, thank you so much for not only saving it, but for providing it with an existence of quality it couldn't possibly have gotten in this lifetime with its previous owner.

You are a genuinely caring individual.

(I STILL think that its previous owner should be publicly humiliated and FLOGGED!!!).

Just sayin'. :poke:
