nocturnal lights

hediki

i luv them all.
hello do nocturnal lights have any effects on corns? im talkin the blue lights. or do the red work better.

I've used both without any noticeable difference in activity. The up side to the red lights is that red isn't within snake's visual spectrum...snake can't see it. The downside to the red lights is that they make your snake look like it's "open for business" ;)

What are your thoughts on cheap painted red lights. I have read they are no good but both my snakes act completely differently under them than under white light. I have to use them to keep my heat up at night but the proper reptile ones start at 60w which would be far too hot.

:roflmao:

Perhaps I try that to get my reluctant couples into action!

Hi,
you're right, the painted ones arent really any good compared to the red glass models. This bulb is a good 24 hour heat source, or can just be used at night: http://www.exo-terra.com/EN/products/heat_glo_lighting_i.html. This bulb is 50w but if used in conjunction with a good dimming thermostat (try this one http://www.livefoods.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=153) then temps can be kept pretty much constant. I bought one of these habistat thermostats last week...costly i know but they are extremely accurate and very easy to set up.
Hope this has helped.
