Noob question.

Okay, I'm sure it has something to do with the sex of the animal but if I see:

1.1 that means 1 male 1 female? Which is male and which is female?

I've also seen 1.1.1 um..

Could someone please fill me in on these terms this way I'm not getting confused when I'm reading some things.

Thanks

male.female.unknown

male is first, female second, and if there is a third, those are the unsexed animals.
Very easy once you get used to it :)
