I was able to get a couple more pictures of the little twerp today when changing his water and a couple other things. (S)he's infinitely calmer today, and for the few minutes I handled him, definitely seemed to enjoy the hand as a warm place versus a chew toy.

I believe a normal. I would defer to anyone more familiar with what hatelings look like for both morphs :)
