Normal Ball Python FREE to Good home

I am taking care of this little guy for my brother in law. His girl-friend rescued the snake and has now left my brother in law. My brother in law needs to find homes for his snakes cause he knows if something happens to them he can't afford vet care with not having another income in the house.

When she rescued him he had many stuck sheds on him and a really bad URI. He was on many different antibiotics and had lab work done. The vet said that he does have some type of disease (I am working on getting the vet records to find out what) that he explained works like herpes. That it could lay dormant for many many years and not cause issues however he needs to remain in "quarantine" for the rest of his life cause it is contagious. He is doing really well and eating good and is just way to sweet.

So if your interested in giving this normal Ball a loving home please PM me. Under the circumstances I don't feel comfortable shipping this snake so I would prefer a local adoption.

You'd think if the snake had Crypto or something so threatening the Vet wouldn't dance around the problem and refuse to state the issue. And isn't Crypto pretty much a death sentence to any animal that contracts it?

Sounds like you're maybe passing a serious issue on to other people. I'd think it'd be a priority to find out what exactly is this mysterious disease before trying to give the snake away.

I am working on getting vet records. The information I am getting is 2nd hand from the ex. When she originally told me about it I had asked if the vet had said anything about crypto and she said no. So as this very moment I don't know how severe the situation actually is. However, the snake is doing well and has been so I feel that it is a shame to put him to sleep on the off chance there might be someone willing to take him. If we don't find someone than he will be put to sleep.

I am just putting it out there. I am not sugar coating anything. I definitely understand someone not wanting to take the risk. I am not, which is why I am not taking him in. But again, you never know someone maybe willing.

Welp, turns out my brother in laws ex girl friend over exagerated or didn't give us the full story. The snake had a really bad URI that took heavy duty antibiotics to get rid of. They did test for crypto a few of times to be sure and he did test negative. I guess the vet talked about it and recommended it after the first round of antiboitics didn't work and given his past care.

But the good news is that he has found a new home with one of the techs that work there and she is going to my brother in laws to pick him up this evening. I am mostly amazed at the amount of money she put into this snake to just walk away from him.

Actually Em, crypto can remain dormaint and never show its self in a carrier animal. Or you can have an outbreak in an animal and they recover. Or as you pointed out Death.

I found a good blog written on it that explains it better.

Whomever wrote this did a wonderful job in my opinion.

Me too! I think he is in the best posible hands. Someone who like Balls that could help if any of his past care does catch up with him.
