Okay, I bought this snake a few months ago. The breeder said it was pure Okeetee from snakes collected at the hunt club. I saw its "dad," and that snake is definitely an Okeetee. BUT - whenever I post a pic of my snake and say it's an Okeetee, people sometimes tell me it's a normal. What do you guys think?

There are locality Okeetees (someone correct me if I am wrong...but is it Jasper County, SC?) and then there are the Okeetee "phase" as I like to call them. Meaning they have the desired Okeetee "look" but aren't necessarily decendents of locality Okeetees. That "look" meaning bright orange and red with big black blotch borders.

I think both types are nice in their own way.

Okeetees are normals, they're just from the Okeetee area as Traci pointed out. People are starting to refer to a particular pattern of large black borders as being Okeetees. Techniqually, they aren't. Kind of like Champagne can only be made in Champagne. Anything else is just a sparkling wine.

Well said MegF, not all corns from the hunt club area are particularily attractive, but they are true Okeetee's in my book. And Rippit, your snake looks like it is going to show a lot of orange when it matures. Being that you know it's from the hunt club area I would refer to it as Okeetee.
