Not an "Oops" anymore

Well, the "Oops" turned into a "COOL!" Terry laid 9 eggs last night, 2 of them are probably slugs as they are quite small and seem squishy as compared to the rest. I have removed the eggs from the nest box and put them in moist vermiculite, slightly covered with damp sphagnum moss. The temp in the container is 85 degrees. This is the first clutch for us, and I want to know if I am doing it right or if I have to change anything (Yes, I ordered the book but it is still on back order are Barnes and Noble). Now I guess the real waiting begins.......

WELL DONE BIZZY,the secret is not to get too anxious, waiting time will be about 90 days, the mistake i made with my first clutch which was last year, after the 90 days i had 2 eggs unhatched so i decided to cut(very gently)the shell to help babies hatch, HUGE mistake, it sost me the life of both snakes, they were behind in growth but would of hatched under their own steam about a week later, so be patient, learn from my mistake.....

GOOD LUCK..................STEVE

My experience is a bit different....

With incubation temps from 78-82 my hatching time runs right at 62-64 days. From what I've heard, higher temps mean faster hatch time but increases the probability of kinking and other health problems. Lower temps means longer hatch times. I've heard of some eggs taking 100 plus days to hatch at lower 70's temps.
If it were my clutch, I'd shoot for a few degrees cooler, everything else sounds great.
