Not eating!

Hey guys and girls,

My corn isn't eating, she hasn't eaten for 5 weeks! The longest she has gone is a few weeks before.

The story is... I recently moved home she hadn't eaten on a try just before I moved, now she hasn't eaten since I have tried every week...I gave her a hamster 3 weeks ago and she struck it but didnt catch it properly then backed off and wasnt interested since then she hasn't gone for food.

I have tried everything, heated the food, left it with her...its like she doesnt know its there! She has been overly active since I've moved always digging around and laying un covered... but she has also acted normally going between hot and cold caves, temps are pretty much the same as ever.

What do I do???

Cheers

Sounds like she is looking for love. It is mating season and it is typical for corns to loose interest in food, and start to be out and about in the viv's a lot more than usual. I suggest waiting 2 weeks this time, and offering a meal that is about 1/2 the size she would normally eat.

Ok thanks Asbit, I thought it could be that but it hasn't been this long before. I guess she is only 3 so it could be her peak age? I will try what you have suggested :)

Just try to get a weight on her and keep an eye on it so long as she does not start to loose a substantial amount of weight, it is no problem, some corns go a few months with out eating at this time of year.

As well my biggest girl, also just over 3 yrs, will eat for me during this mating season but only if I feed her with a towel over her feeding container and with out any other snakes around. So next time maybe try putting a towel over the feeding tub and leaving her in a quite area for around 2 hrs with the mouse before checking on her.
