We've had our cornsnake for a while now, but heres the problem, I'm pretty busy and my girlfriend is mostly scared of snakes.

So my big concern here is that he isn't being taken out of his tank very often at all.

We feed him about every 3 - 4 weeks and change his water every few days but i'm actually concerned myself that he should be coming out for exercise and handling that i just simply don't have time to do and my daughter isn't entirely comfortable handling him on her own.

What should I do? I really do love the little guy, which is why i'm concerned.

Unlike furry pets, most reptiles don't seek or crave human attention. So for starters, your lack of handling isn't any form of neglect. Whilst odd ones appear to enjoy human company, there's nothing most Corns like better than being left alone - apart from the mystery appearance of the occasional mouse!

As far exercise goes, as long as he doesn't have any weight issues - which on your feeding regime he shouldn't have - then I wouldn't worry. Most Corns spend 99% of their time curled up in their favourite hides and don't suffer ill-consequences.

If it's any reassurance, the only handling any of mine get, is when I'm transferring them to or from their feeding tanks once every 2-3 weeks, or when I take them out in order to do a thorough clean of their tanks. I don't have extended handling sessions with them. None of them show any signs of muscle wastage or poor physical condition. My eldest is 23 and has been subject to this regime since I got him when he was 3.

I think you're doing absolutely fine by your Corn and that he won't notice the lack of handling.
