Okeetee or normal?

Mowgli

Straight from The Jungle!
How do you recognise a normal hatchling from a normal?
A friend of mine just hatched 4 corns, from a female okeetee, but the father is unknow.. BUt could be okeetee too..
They are realy dark, and a little blueish..

Sorry that i dont got pics, but i hope yuo can help me anyway :crazy02:

I assume you mean okeetee from normal? If so then ok's will have THICK black borders around the saddles whereas normals have black borders but not as prominent.

Remember, all Okeetees are normals. But not all normals are Okeetees. Forgive me if you knew that already. :)

So true, so true! LOL Okeetees usually have much brighter reds and oranges and much thicker black borders on their saddles. "Okeetee phase" is the term used for corns that are not geographically proven Okeetee Hunt Club caught and bred offspring but display the typical "Okeetee" coloration.

Okeetee hatchlings I've seen have been noticibly darker than 'Normals', I assume this is because of the thick black borders that they retain into adulthood... they go on to lighten up a great deal in the months to come.. I hear the best Okeetee's come from the darkest hatchlings..?? Sorry I can't be of more help... o_O

I know that they are normals :D And yes i ment how to tell normals from okeetees ;)
I know how to see it in adulthood, but i have never seen a hatchling.. Until now maybe :p

Hatchlings are hard to distinguish from one another. Okeetees are generally darker as hatchlings, andother normals are more of an "orange" tone. The best time to identify hatchlings is after their first shed. Sometime the colors look more muttled before hand.
