Older snake suddenly refusing food.

My aunt emailed me for some help with her corn snake and I'm not sure what to tell her. Snakey is in the 12-15 year old range and he has never refused food before. He's been fed live (I know, I know...) for his entire life. Here's the email I recieved:

I need some snake advice. Snakey has recently shed - past Thursday or Friday. On Saturday I bought him a small rat. It had been 4 weeks . . I know he's hungry.

He didn't eat (rat had been in the cage for over 6 hours). We put the rat in again Sunday morning. Again he didn't eat. We just removed the rat. It looks as though the snake is hunting, but he's not killing the rat or even trying. Behavior is almost like he doesn't know the rat is there. He struck at Don (had gloves on) a couple of times as he tried to remove the rat. Odddddddd that he won't eat.

They're about ten minutes away. It wouldn't be hard for me to swing by and drop off some F/T and check his eyes. He's a pretty friendly old guy.
 
Check for cataracts or retained shed that may be blocking vision.

Also, check prey size. Might go a little smaller and see if he takes it then.

And def try F/T if he takes them :)
