One fat little amel. (Sunglow?)

Female Wiccan Heretic!!
My brother's birthday is on Monday. Normally I am dead-set against getting pets as gifts, but he has been talking about getting a corn snake for a long time, and recently he mentioned being almost ready to go out and get one and I asked him to wait until after his birthday. He said color didn't matter to him, he just wanted a friendly snake and preferably an adult. My original plan was to get him a snake at the Sacramento reptile expo, but then a co-worker mentioned that one of the teachers in her vet tech program was looking to re-home an adult corn and did I know anyone who wanted one? Uh, yeah!!

He's definitely got friendly down...having been a classroom pet he is quite accustomed to handling. He's also FAT. He looks like a big ol' sausage. I'll suggest that my brother only feed him every 2-3 weeks until he looks more like a healthy snake than a bratwurst. He doesn't have a name yet, since the school thought he was a she. He's staying with me until Monday, and I'm very fond of the little fellow already! I'm going to make sure my brother knows that if he changes his mind about wanting a corn this guy will always have a home with me!

A cat bed you say? Looks like a snake bed to me!

It really doesn't matter since he's just going to be a pet, but would you call him a sunglow or just a nice bright amel?

You would think...since he was living at a vet tech program...that he wouldn't be so freaking FAT! Ah well, he's in good hands now.

OMG he's adorable!!! He almost has a pink cast to him- I wonder if he's going blue. No white- I'd call that a sunglow.

That pinkish cast is his natural color! He shed last weekend! :D He is a cutie, I'm seriously regretting decision to give him away...but he's also an ideal first snake.

He doesn't have the red wash that you normally see in a Sunglow, but there is definitely something weird about him!

Is he possibly a hybrid? The saddle outline and off color are throwing me. LOL

I've seen another pure amel that had the dark saddle outlines. It was a truly gorgeous fire. As to the pink cast... maybe he's a dilute? Probably not, though, but hmmmn.

It's possible of course, though the face is very classically corn to me. His chub seems to stretch out his saddles too, which throws me off a little. I actually know almost nothing about his background, though I just sent off a text to the co-worker who gave him to me asking his age and any history she might know.

I think it look like a pure corn.

The eyes look amel, but the blotch borders look strange for amels (like in some ultramels).

Are such blotch borders in amels a breedable trait?

I'm at my brother's party right now, and the little guy is now named Sunny and my brother is thrilled!
