One post every 300 seconds....

I don't know about anyone else, but this whole "one post every 5 minutes" thing slightly irritates me. The "one every 30 seconds" (at least I THINK that's what it was..) didn't really bother me cause it takes me a heck of a lot longer to type a reply than 30 seconds.
I usually zipped through the posts, commenting or posting where I needed to and then I closed the window and went back to doing homework or whatever I was doing before I thought of this lovely forum. Now, I post somewhere, get up to go do something else while I'm waiting, come back, reply to a different post, go away, come back, go away, come back.
Why do we need this rule? I was thinking and the only explanation I could think of was to stop people from posting billions of garbage threads all over the place in a matter of a few seconds. (Kind of what happened over on kingsnake.com with that weird guy which was REALLY REALLY annoying..) Am I right? I'm just curious and kind of annoyed sometimes..I'd just like to know the reason. It's probably something really obvious and then I'll feel stupid for complaining..

I understand your annoyance, but I think we all need to take into consideration that Rich is paying for the bandwidth used by this FREE site that benefits us all. 300 seconds in my opinion is a little steep, but I'm not paying the bill either.

I understand your frustration....

But this option is called 'Flood Control' in the settings page I have access to. It is named that for good reason. There was a guy posting on some of my other message boards that got very carried away and caused me a lot of time deleting all his messages. I just did not want that to happen here as well.

I'm hoping this is just a temporary inconvenience, but for the short term, I think no one here wants to have the entire message board flooded with lots of junk messages. Especially me.

Thanks.

No, I totally understand. I'm really thankful that this forum even exists. It's just that patience and waiting aren't exactly my strong points..
Sorry for whining :)

LOL Iris-
Patience and waiting aren't my strong points either and it aggravates me sometimes, but I can't stand when posters make pointless posts...

LOL, even spelling and careless mistakes can be irritating...:D

I understand what Rich is talking about. I've had the same problem on my board and people I know that run the vB software have had to do the same.

The definition of patience is (long suffering). I once asked a friend to pray for me that I would have patience. He told me this definition and then asked if I really wanted it. I changed my mind.

Patience is for the stong

Patience can be very suffering, but it pays off in the end if you are strong and determined. (I'm really hoping my 6 years of suffering will be rewarded with a corn in July)

Hmm..I never knew that was the definition of patience.
A lot of people don't know the proper definitions of the words they use though so I guess I'm just another one of them. :D (incorrect use of aggravate- aggravate means to make something worse, it isn't a synonym to irritate. Sorry to be nitpicky Cornsnake keeper but we went over it a billion times in English class and grammar/spelling/other english related things always stick out at me me :))
Kilojara, I hope you do get a snake very soon. Good luck!

Ah, but the English language is just down right goofy.

For instance, if something is illogical, what is it? Not logical.

If something is illegible, what is it? Not legible.

And illegal is? Not legal.

Ok, so what is something that is illuminated?

With a lot of words, if you extract the prefixes or suffixes, leaving the root term, they don't seem to have any meaning or present day usage.

Someone whom is not listless is listing?

If I'm not retired yet, when was I originally 'tired'?

What 'sults' did I get before the results happened?

Was I 'liable' before becoming reliable?

When exactly is something 'posterous' after it has passed being preposterous?

And if you have never said anything at all about this thread, when exactly did you 'ply' before you replied?
