So I've been handling my new corn snake every day (except after feeding) to try to acclimate him to handling.

I guess I got a little overconfident with his ability to navigate my arm without assistance, as last night he was maneuvering on my arm and fell to the floor. I'm 6' tall and he fell probably 4' to the floor, which was carpeted.

He did not appear to be injured, behaved more or less normally after I picked him up after giving him a couple minutes on the floor to calm any nerves caused by the fall.

I feel like I shouldn't be too concerned about it, he's probably fine, but just wanted to see what people thought about it.

He's probably fine, I would give him a day or two off from handling so he can just chill.

Some corns always wrap around something and hold on for dear life when they are being handled. Then there are some that never hold on and some that hold on randomly. I think the ones that hold on randomly are the trickiest to handle, because when you let your guard down that's when they decide to let go :/

I wouldn't worry too much, most of the time they are just fine. I have had one baby fall less than 3 feet onto carpet and die a few hours later, even though she was seemingly fine after the fall. But that is one of many, so I think there may have been other issues as well.

The larger snakes could be hardier, and the smaller ones have less weight to impact their fall... :p
My corn repeatedly fell from 2.5 (the lip of her vive lid, which she climbed up NUMEROUS times. And just kept falling from, because she couldn't balance on it...), around 15 times in one night.
I think we've all been where you are!

Mine is one of the ones that holds on randomly. Dropped her first night I got her on to hardwood bout 4 feet, was sitting on my computer chair. Second time. Couple days ago, she was in my sweater, hiding, I thought she was on the couch, got up,she fell. She's fine. But Just keep an eye out

I had this happen with my little milk! he's not arboreal in anyway, lol and he slipped fell!
But my reflexes saved him! he was swooped out of the air before I think he even knew he had falling! O_O

lol Sirius. can be pretty lazy sometimes aswell..;)

Thanks for all the reassuring thoughts on it.

He holds on pretty randomly. Sometimes he wraps his tail around my wrist, and sometimes he decides he wants to just drape back and forth across my arm. He's done it many times before, but this time just suddenly slipped right off without warning.

He's about 51" in length (measured his shed yesterday), so I think he ought to be pretty hardy.

He should be okay, I agree with everyone else, I think we have all dropped at least one in our lives! Scarlett ALWAYS loops her tail around my arm and hooks the end around her body, it is hard to get her to let go sometimes, but Gus just swings for the fence with his whole body all the time. He is much harder to handle, he is definitely a two-hands-on snake. He thinks I am a carnival ride.

Just let your baby rest for a couple of days, it should be fine. We won't call SPS (Snake Protective Services) on you this time!

Just as an add-on, the sheds aren't accruate ways to measure length as they stretch while they're shedding the skin off. So yours is probably a couple of inches less than the length of the shed :) still quite large!
I found mine to be about 3 inches off.
