Lavender is a single-gene trait, like Amel or Anery.

Opal is the coined name for Amelanistic Lavender. (Like Snow is for Amel Anery.) :)

very nice snakes~
give us the photo shots of the entire clutch when they all hatch out!

I'm still waiting on the rest to come out. Today I did the most stupid thing... It's been like 5 days since the first 2 pipped so I got a little anxious and decided to slit a few egg's open to help them along. For the most part it was no problem as theyre all set to go. But one egg looked to be a "DIE" so I opened it up to check it out. What a mistake. Turns out the little guy is perfectly ok he's just under developed. Massivly under-developed. It looks like he could use another 30-45 days. I put some cellophane over where I opened it up and I hope he does allright. Now I'm just perplexed why the entire clutch is ready and he looks to be a month behind?

Update?

Whatever happened to the rest of your clutch and the one under-developed baby?

A bit of a late reply but I've been busy. Sorry...

The under developed opal that I got anxious with ended up dying just a few days later. I cannot tell you how bad I felt. Once those eggs have been opened it seems if they don't come out on their own they're doomed. I can tell you I won't be rushing anyone along this year. Now if I only knew why that one opal was so under developed in the first place...?

The rest of the clutch came out fine in the end. All the others came out a few days after my last post on this thread, 7 days total I beleive. I'd have to go look at my records but I beleive that clutch consisted of 17 eggs. Minus that one opal and I ended up with 9 lavender's and 7 opal's, no slugs. Not bad for my first opal/lavender breeding. Would have gone 100% if not for that one opal...
