Opal Motley

There have been many opals posted on here, but after seeing Caramel’s '08 opal motley  they were officially added to my wish list. Then 2 weeks ago I found an ad for a pair of opal motleys and contacted the seller. She had someone that was willing to take them both, but who was more interested in the female, and I wanted the male - perfect! Being my first online live purchase I was a little nervous, but everything seemed to be falling into place.

Well, my little guy was supposed to ship last Tuesday, but I got a call around noon that the pick-up driver who's sub-contracted by the actual shipping company had refused to take the package as he misunderstood this arrangement, and he would now ship out Wednesday for a Thursday arrival...okay, no biggie. 2 o'clock Thursday and still no snakie, so I send an email making sure the opal shipped out okay the previous day and confirm that I should stick around after work until he arrives. I get the worst news ever: she was told that he was accidently shipped ground and wouldn't arrive 'til Monday! It was a nightmare, all I could think was that that poor little dehydrated snakie was going to freeze to death in a truck or warehouse somewhere

Later that night we received some hopeful news that his package was being tracked down by someone higher up and they thought by the time scans that he may have missed the ground shipment, and if so, he should be going out by air that night. I have never been as relieved as I was then next morning when I checked my email and got the message that he was in my city and would be delivered that day.
:dancer:
I couldn’t wait to check on him when he finally arrived I was shaking as I opened the package. He was a little chilly, but after a few minutes curled around my fingers, warmed up and started slithering and flicking his little tongue. When we got home he took some nice big gulps of water before releasing my hand and curling up under his hide. He readily took his first meal last night after 6 undisturbed days of peace and quiet in his new home. I think it'll take me a bit to figure out the right lighting to get good pictures of this guy, but here are a few I was able to snap last night:

*LOVE* I love his little orange spots!! What a doll!

And ugh... I feel your pain on shipping fiascos! Thanks goodness he arrived all right!

I got my first good look at opal's this past week. I have to tell you, they sure are an eye catcher. Congrats on your new acquisition!!!

Thanks for the compliments. I'm quite pleased with him :)

He was packed, then unpacked Tuesday. Repacked and shipped Wednesday, 2 days of travel, arrived Friday - so not terrible, his heat pack was still warm, but an extra 3 days would not have been kind to him. I doubt he was as remotely traumatized as we were.

It wasn't an issue with the package contents. The shipping company overseeing the majority of the transit doesn't pick up from the town he was from so they have another company (basically a competitor) pick up for them and deliver to their depot. The driver was new to the route and didn't know that they did pickups for the other company. She'll now be able to deliver her future shipments herself to the nearest depot, therefore eliminating the secondary shipping company.
