I'd remove that....switch to aspen or something. Orchid bark is usually made from some sort of conifer or fir....and those are too close to pine for me. Do a search for pine shavings...they are not recommended.
Yeah, just because a pet shop recommends something, doesn't mean it's good for the animal in question. Same goes for substrate company packaging. There are some really awful substrates out there that are marketed as reptile substrate. While they may be fine for some reptiles, they can be harmful to others.
Orchid bark works best with orchids. For a corn snake, try aspen and avoid any substrate that's made from coniferous trees (like pine, cedar, etc..). Any type of tree bark that contains a lot of aromatic oils is going to cause respiratory problems for your corn snake...and you don't want that.
You have to remember that these stores and manufactures are out to make money above all else. They sell Calci-Sand which is proven to encourage ingestion and impaction (death)...and crunched walnut shell that is not digestible in the least and causes impactions (again, death). And what about those "reptile light bulbs." You know, the regular white incandescent ones? They're overpriced regular house hold bulbs in different packaging!
