Our Anery's starting to get some yellow

Here's a couple of pics of our critters that I snapped this evening. I've been trying to get nice close up shots like so many of the other members.

While taking the photos tonight I noticed that our Anary is starting to get a little yellow. It's coming in just behind his eye stripe. Unfortunately much of its appearance was washed out by the camera flash.

Cheers,
Jason

Nice pics, especially the anery. I also have discovered the yellows on some of mine because of macro shots I was taking.

In case you don't know this trick: when doing close-ups, I cheat and put the camera in the highest pic quality/size and then just crop the picture instead of resizing it. You can get a lot more "zoom" without losing any quality. :D What kind of camera are you using?

Nice DC photo trick Serp, I'll have to try it. Our camera is an Olympus D-460. Not a fantastic camera but a reasonable one for family photos which is what we bought it for. I find it takes great photos in natural sun light, unfortunately I live in Alaska so I won't see much in the way of sun light for a few more months.

Neumann,

About how old is your Anery?

Mine's about 6 months old. He's been lightening up with each shed, especially around the head and neck, but he's not showing any yellow at all yet.

thanks,
Kevin

Replying for Neumann:
Wadjet is ( :rolleyes:we think:rolleyes: ) around 8 months. My dad (alias Jason alias Neumann) can correct me if I'm wrong.

Terra,

Thanks for the info. I guess my snake has a couple more months of growing to do before he starts showing some yellow.

It's kind of neat watching them grow and change. Mine started out with an off white background and very dark, almost black saddles. Now his background has a silvery/grey wash and his saddles are various shades from light brown at the head to almost black at the tail.

Keep posting pic's of your wonderful snakes.

Kevin

KevinK,

I think Terra's Anery is a late July or early August hatchling. We purchases him in mid September and he had already eaten four times. He's currently about 18 inches long. One of his parents has yellow and the other doesn't. They're both good sized snakes so he should grow up to be a healthy sized Corn.

Cheers,
Jason
