Are snake picky about who holds them? I don’t have a lot people over that want to hold my snakes so it’s pretty much just me and one of my friends that ever holds them. I always take Ziggy out and hold him longer then Vito. After a bit Ziggy while just wrap around my wrist and I can walk around the house like I’m wearing a pretty new bracelet.
Yesterday I took Ziggy into get sexed, didn’t want to do it my self and it was free, and well Ziggy ended up being a boy, but boy did he become a wiggle worm when that guy picked him up. The guy even came out and asked me if he was always like this. I said yes b/c I felt bad for the guy.

So in short are snakes picky about who holds them?

Yes, mine are at least.

When I hold them they are always calm, when mine wife holds them they start moving to get away.
She never feeds them and does not hold them very often.

I've only ever had one person try holding one of mine. My sister held my 04 snow, but it took three times before the snake would go to my sister. I just held her and would let her go towards my sister's hands. The first two times she would smell her and then immediately come back up to me. The third time she finally decided to give it a try.
Maybe it's just a thing about getting used to the smell of somebody new? :shrugs:

I do not think they are picky about who holds them, I think it is more of how they are held, If the person is nervous I do not think they would like it as much as someone that is confident

Mine definitely act differently when someone else holds them. The neighborhood kids all like to hold the snakes, but they are usually more calm when I hold them. My Green tree python will stretch out to me when someone else is holding her.

I definitely think they can somehow sense when the person holding them is nervous or jumpy. I've noticed this from when I am showing them to potential buyers, if I can get the person to relax the snake usually relaxes. Especially with younger kids, they have a tendency to grab the snake tight so it wants to get away but if I get them to loosen their grip and let the snake crawl freely the snake generally settles down.
