Pain

I've been bit by my 5-foot corn before, and it doesn't hurt too bad. It stings a bit, like little pin pricks. The worst part about it is the surprise of your snake striking at you. It scares me even when I see my little ones striking at me, because they're so quick.

How much do you think it will hurt if my 6 foot ratsnake bit me
How much it will hurt which of you? :shrugs: Can you imagine trying to bite an elephant? I imagine the sensation would be somewhat similar... :sidestep:

What kind of ratsnake? Some are harmless and other can produce an experience you won't soon forget. ;)

Would that be the Texas you're thinking about?

They had a green/texas cross in my local reptile place. Looked quite nice actually but inherited the temprament of the Texas apparently. My interest ended at that point .....

That would be a good starting point for discussing ratsnake exptremes. :)

I belive the description they used initially was "feisty". Hmmm.

They also had a really pretty Childrens Python. Can't say I'd ever heard of them before but it was an innocent looking little thing. Another bitey one though by all accounts (lack of handling to blame, rather than breed, this time). Must be the season for grumpy snakes where I am just now.

well, there's a difference... If he nails you with a warning strike, it will make you jump more than anything. If he actually grabs on, well, that may sting a little. Just make sure you don't smell like food. :) Don't give him a reason. Trust me, you'll get nailed soon enough. There are 2 kinds of people when it comes to keeping snakes: those who've been bit, and those who will be. :)

The bite of the biggest rat snake is nothing compared to my cat when he plays too rough, lol! What a little monster! I would much rather be bitten by a big corn or ratsnake than a white mouse or rat. It is really no big deal at all. After the first few hundred times, you just keep right on working and hardly notice at all, haha!

this is the first snake i've had. i've had collared lizards before.. pet store told me they didnt have teeth... found out a few hours later that they do have teeth as it left teeth marks on my hand.
