That's for sale???
I checked on Maya this evening as I'm waiting for her pre-lay shed. I have also been misting the inside of the egg box to keep the bed a beast and the moss damp for some humidity as suggested by Kathy. She has usually been completely buried in the substrate of the egg box, but this evening she was coiled up on top of the moss. When I went in there to spray, she started drinking like crazy. She sucked the water off the sides, her coils, the moss, everything. Could she really not know where the opening is in the box? I made it approximately twice her diameter at one end, and I thought she could make her way in and out. I'm wondering if she's just drinking tons due to imminent shed. My Green tree python acts like she hasn't had a drop of water in years when she's going to shed and will drink and drink like this. Do you think that's what's going on, or do you think she really can't find the water? I've enlarged the hole slightly just in case and took her out of the box, offered her the water bowl (she refused more) and she crawled back into the hole. I figure she could poke around and find her way out if she wanted to at any time before. My husband is pretty much patting my arm and telling me to chill, but this is my first time breeding her and I worry about her. She has not been very conventional thus far: not eating thru most of the breeding period and things like that.
