PetCo Corn Book.

It's titled: Corn & Rat Snakes by Philip Purser

This book gives different info then what I find on this site. For example, he recomends humidity to be between 60% and 70%. And snakes 6 months to one year be fed every 3 -- 4 days. Also, the occassional vitamins.

What gives? Frustrating. The respected Herp. store near by gives different info as well. They use pine shavings for all their snakes...:realhot:

Plillip Purser? I've never heard of him.....sorry...
THE...and I mean THE most well respected breeders of corn snakes in the country (and possibly the world, since corns are from the USA) are members of this community.

Kathy Love wrote a book considered by many to be the cornsnake "bible", if you will. Definately check that one out...I would be lost without it...

Before I even decided fully on getting a corn snake, I ordered three books off of amazon.com. One was Kathy Love's book, one was Don Soderberg's and the other was Philip Purser's. I can say the Corn & Rat snakes book by Philip Purser was the least helpful to me.

My advice is to ask questions here, read through helpful threads, and if you want a decent guide pick up Kathy Love's book. That should cover everything.

Oh yeah, and whoever is using pine for their snakes is an idiot. Don't talk to them.

Yeah, I'm like Jen M. I bought and borrowed TONS of books on snakes and snake-keeping. The ones I still have are Kathy Love's and Don Soderberg's. Those are the ones you should "pay attention" to. While I love reading other "snake" books (and I do!!! I borrow from the library all the time), if there is ever any controversy, I go with Kathy & Don.

I also have the phillip purser one because I used to work at Petco but I picked up Kathy Loves book first and all my other corn books after because I was eager for information.
The thing to remember about Purser's book is it is rather broad spectrum where as the other books recommended are corn specific.
