Petco Repti Sale!

Productmur

Shameless Addict
Not sure if it's the same everywhere, but in case it is and others haven't seen yet-- Petco is having a 50% off sale for all reptiles on Oct. 12! :D

Aaaand...I'm sure it's going to start quite a stir in my house. xD

Saw the most beautiful little boa there. Gorgeous! And I'll be back for her if I can raise the money for it. o_O

I think I saw that here too, in PHX. I know there aren't too many Pet(co)(smart) fans here, but I have to say that the last time I was in Petco they had a few really nice looking boas. One in particular was really beautiful, but alas, wifey says enough already, so I'm left to admire. Good luck.

You can get some good finds at Petco/Petsmart. I found my suspected kastanie girl at a Petco last year. And shes still going strong!

Thanks for the heads up, now I know to stay away from Petco for a while until the sale is over LOL

No, just on reptiles and one specific zilla 10 gal desert kit. That being said, though, I absolutely love it when they do their $1 a gallon sales! :D

The petco by me has always had good-looking reptiles. The main lady in that section breeds snakes...I wanna say ball pythons...so, she is rather more suited to making sure all the reptiles are happy. This is not the case in either petsmart I live by, though.

Unfortunately, that lady wasn't there when I went and asked to hold the boa. The lady that helped reached in, moved the hide, and jerked her hand back. I told her that I could get it from here before she got bitten... v_v

^^^^ That is the way to go - talk to the staff who manage and care for the reptiles and figure out which ones know how to take care of herps and care enough to do it. You can get some really nice animals from the good ones once you identify who they are. Even if they aren't very knowledgeable, if they are willing to listen to your advice there is hope...

I'm just there THAT much. xD I would know them by name if I wasn't so god awful at remembering names... x.x But there's two herp people at that petco, the main lady, and then another gal I think is just a cashier, but enjoys reptiles at least. A rare day, having two female herp lovers working at the same pet shop...er, main chain one, anyway. We have a local store called River City Exotics that's fun to go to. The owner breeds ball pythons, too, and always has some pretty morphs all through fall.

With the Petco sale, you'll get the reptiles at a price that you would get them at if you had bought from a private, knowledgeable breeder.

The difference being well, knowledge obviously, and aftercare + ongoing support. If you buy a reptile from Petco and it doesn't eat, tough. If you buy a snake from a reputable breeder, they will usually be willing to walk you through the steps of getting your snake happy & settled in well, and give tips on getting a reluctant feeder to eat.

Food for thought.

Our Petsmart is only marginal at keeping and of course co-habitate...which I don't like. I've had people call me with problems with their cornsnakes due to improper information like they eat crickets......mites are another problem. I wouldn't buy from either place as I like knowing where at least my cornsnakes came from and when they were hatched out. I prefer to do business with a breeder who I know took care of the snake properly to begin with....
