Photo editing Freeware?

I recently reformatted my computer and lost all the photo editing software that it came with. So, I was wondering, does anyone know of any good editing freeware or any programs that are fairly cheap? I have access to Photoshop at school, but I'm getting sick of tramping across campus in the snow to edit my pictures.
Thanks for any ideas,
Dana

Hi Dana,
This is a very good free program. It is basically a better version of microsoft paint. You can do more with it and it has a "Magic Wand" feature. You can get it here................

"Paint.NET"

Hope this is what your looking for.

Do either of you know how to crop a picture using that program? I use to have Paintshop Pro and cropping a picture was easy as could be. I'm having trouble figuring out how to crop using this program.

I've been using the Gimp for about 2 months now. For a freebie this is a powerful tool. It's not quite Photoshop but it has to be at the top of the free Photoshop mimics list... if there is such a thing. :)

For what I can tell, you select the area you want to remain after cropping then you click the crop button on the main toolbar (it's next to the paste button).
