pink eye

I don't think he has, I have it and I was wondering if he could contract it. I know he has a scale over his eye, but I also know that's it's contracted by contact, so if he's in my hands, that's pretty solid contact.

Hmm... pardon me for sounding like the Queen B*****...why would you handle your snake, knowing you have pink eye, without proper disinfecting techniques? I'm truly am sorry for your plight however...

I know that snakes can “obtain” human diseases, but that is why you are soposed to wash hands before and after handling. You don’t want to give your snake Pink Eye and you don’t want your snake to give you and other sickness. But as far as a snake getting pinkeye they shouldn’t have to unless you rub them to your eyes, which I am pretty sure is rather uncommon… :crazy02:

Hand washing . . .

Yeah, you should be washing your hands before and after handling your snake - as long as you do that it should be fine.

I wouldn't think conjunctivitis is contractable by a snake. Still, you should practice good handwashing techniques anyway, so that others around you don't contract it.

Obviously I've been washing my hands. I work with preschoolers, so I have to wash my hands constantly and to avoid contracting it in both eyes. But we all know that washing doesn't gauruntee that all the germs are gone, no matter how many times I was them. I haven't handled my snake at all since I got it. My boyfriend and I were having a debate and I said I didn't want to handle him at all while I was sick, and my boyfriend said I was crazy and he couldn't get it, so I was looking for extra opinions.
