Pips with egg sac still attached?

Naagas

Deserae :)
I have a clutch hatching- and so far three of the babies have left their eggs with the egg sac still attached.

I put one of these babies in a deli cup with a damp paper towel last night and this morning the baby was dead.

I am not bothering the clutch- I have been checking on them once a day.

Is this something someone else has experienced? This clutch has taken forever to pip and I am wondering if it is just a bad clutch?

I am wondering if inconsistent incubation temps may be responsible? I closet incubated this clutch and we had a steep temperature drop one night- so I moved the clutch to the incubator.

You did the right thing. I had 2 from the last clutch do the same thing. I placed them in seperate deli cups with the moist paper towel. I did place the deli's inside the incubator. So it would stay warm. 2 days later they were fine to come out. So far they are doing great.

I hope thew rest make it okay. Sorry the hatchling passed.

I have seen the sacs being pulled out more by sticking to the paper towel so I cut them off now, avoiding cutting large vessels. I had one bleed a bit one time but it stopped pretty quickly. I disinfect the 'wound' that is left and cover it with a tiny piece of band aid loosely wrapped around it. I put them on dry paper towel for hygiene and usually the next day or the day after the band aid is rubbed off and the wound has dried enough to heal in the open.

Note that so far I only have had four babies with egg sac hanging out but since the second one tore it off quite fast and the third one pulled out his sac even more when left in the damp paper towel tub, I use the above method and it worked very well number three and four. No infection or such at all and the wounds closed pretty neatly though the one with the largest opening still shows an irregular line where it was. I am amazed how these quite nasty looking gaps actually completely close very fast. The last baby really had the whole sac hanging out so when cut off there was a gap along the belly button line I could look right into.

Thanks for the advice. I will see if any of the babies are sticking to the paper towels when I get home.
