Pips!

Opened up the incubator today and thought everything looked the same as always, then a perfect little gray snake over in the corner caught my eye! We have at least two pips and one hatchling already out of the egg. The one out of the egg is a charcoal, and the two noses I can see are gray, so it looks like mom is a pewter and not a granite (dad is a blizzard).

Today was somewhere between day 51 and 54 and we kept the temps between 81 and 86 for the incubation period. We are quite lucky they decided to hatch this early, since both my boyfriend and I are moving cross country next week!

I'll have pics of the babies a bit later.

Pics of the hatchlings. Not the best, but the best I can do at the moment.

Five of them are out of their eggs so far. One more pipping currently, which accounts for all the eggs on the bottom of the clump. No signs of pipping in the ones from the top portion of the clump yet. Heat for the incubator was from the bottom, so I'm expecting the eggs on top to be pipping a day or two later. All babies are charcoal, so mom is definitely a pewter and probably not het for amel, and dad is not het diffused.

Congrats! I Love hatchlings. I just adopted one last night. They are so cute to watch as they grow up and develop personalities.

All 16 of the eggs have now pipped. Still waiting for three of them to exit their eggs. The first few out of the egg are already blue. All are charcoal het amel and diffused.

So far they all appear healthy. Hopefully they will prove to have their parents temperment and appetite. Mom and dad are our best eaters by far and very easy to handle snakes.
