Hey guys-

I think that the humidity in my incubator is too high. One of the eggs in particular seems to be bloated. It has some marks on the shell as if it is stretching. I need to lower the humidity quick! What do I do? Please help my eggs!

Does anyone have a suggestion for me? I am really worried about losing them. The humidity was really low the other day, so I added some water around the edges of the substrate. I did not add that much, but all of a sudden, the egg has a huge lump off one side of it. It looks like a tire that has had an aneurism. I am using vermiculite. I have the lid off of the tupperware inside the incubator hoping that some of the water will evaporate over the next day or so. I also opened up the air holes in the top of the HobaVator. I hope that this helps. Also, I put a small tupperware of salt inside the incubator, but outside of the egg tupperware. I am told that the salt will help to leech the humidity out of the incubator. Any other ideas?

OK. I am going to put some rice into the actual substrate the eggs are in. I will put it around the edges, and I will hopefully be able to just remove it all at a later date. Thank you so much.

I wouldn't put salt in the incubator at all...and I would only use rice inside a container.

FWIW also when the eggs look a bit dry i moisten some sphagnum and lay it over the eggs. NEVER add water directly into the incubator for reasons you discovered...
