Our 2.5 foot ball python has disapeered from his tank!!! I know everyone says not to fret but there is a problem...If he is still in my roomates room thats fine, we blocked of the door already, but if he has already come out into the house then one of my cats will most certainly eat him when they find him!!!! Please any tips to locating a missing ball? We are quite terrified. Thanks.

The first step is obvious, look under everything in the house. Inside shoes, piles of cloths, I found one inside a vacuum hose once.

I think the best way is to create an area he would be attracted to and stay. A heat mat on the floor with a water bowl and a couple of good hides. Take the one out of his cage so it will have a familiar smell. Then check the hides several times a day.

Every snake I've lost over the years has been found near water in the house. Kitchen, bathroom, laundry room. There are not very many places in a house for a snake to get a drink.

Be patient. Good luck.

Lock up the cats in the bathroom after a thorough snake search. Although cats are excellent snake detectors...

Yeah if you have a nice and fat ball python odds are he is still in the room if you shut the door. I keep my door shut in my herp room and one of our balls went for a stroll. My girl looked for him for over 2 hours. After she panicked a bit I took my turn, found him in 10 minutes and in a place she already looked. I just looked in the places a snake would hide and there he was hidden in a box in the closet.

It is likely your cat will show you where it is. Three out of the four snake escapes and a rat escape were found by my cats. None of them did any damage to the snakes or the rat. So keep looking in the room, but watch your cats.

Found em!!!

Okie dokie everyone. We found the little guy asleep under the bookshelf. The cats are safe, the snake is safe, and the guinea pigs survived the night. So thank you all for your help!
