hey i bought the setup for my first corn today and got the 20$ dig thermometer with no probe, from flukers, where do i stick it?

on the substrate, or stick it on the glass directly above the substrate. You should have tried to get the one with the probe though. OH BTW on the warm side, directly abover the UTH or heated area. So you know the hotest heat.

You know what I do with those? It's the digital rectangular black thermometer/hygrometer? I don't stick it to anything, just place it under the substrate in the middle of the mat. That way I can take it back out to see max/min and reset it whenever I want.

thats exactly wat it is! thanx nanci but my house stays around 74...do i even need it and if so how long do i keep it on

You have a UTH, right? You definitely need that to get the warm side up to 83-85 or so. But the problem with UTHs is that they go up to 120-130, so you need a rheostat or thermostat to regulate the temp. A snake can't always tell it's burning till it's too late!
