poop or regurge?

Sunblotch

Sarah
Since i've never seen my corn pass the food one way or another, i was wondering what a regurge looks like just to make sure it's not happening. Kaylee is my first snake , so i want to make sure that she's healthy! Thank you in advance! :puke02:

Poo will look a lot like bird poo, only runnier. It'll have a darker part and a white/yellow part to it. Sometimes depending on the size of snake and whether its eating adult mice or whatnot, you may or may not find hair in it. Poop smells like poop.

A regurge looks like a mouse that's partially rotted and will smell like it. You'll typically be able to discern features of the mouse..feet, eyes, tail, etc. The smell is unmistakable.

Most snakes housed on a loose substrate typically defecate around the edges or underneath the substrate. So you might poke around the cage and see if you can find a dried brownish/black with powdery white/yellow glob.

I know this is an old thread i just searched it and didnt want to post another thread on this topic... my snakes "stuff" looks like poop, smells not like poop...??? ill post pics too

From what everyone here has said before in past threads, is that a regurge smells REALLY bad. Snake poop, on the other hand, to me anyway, just smells like wild animal poop. Kind of the same smell you get when you go to the zoo. Of course, I still only have just a rather smallish '04, but I think you'd be able to tell the difference between a regurge and a poop, but post pics anyway. That's one thing that's been bugging me for awhile now, is that everyone talks about regurges, but no one wants to take a picture of one and post it so that us new people (I hate the term newbie) can know what one looks like, so that if we are ever faced with that dilemma, we will at least have a place to start. Yeah, yeah, I know, this whole post is just totally :puke01: , but its just a part of life, what goes in, must come out, one way or the other.

this is the first time we have smelled "fresh" poo from our adults. this big girl ate a mouse and a rat pup(first time for the rat) on friday, so it may be "too late" for a regurge... it was just foul smelling... normally i can handle the poo smell... this made me cringe. no mouse parts

Cheech: "Looks like snake poop, smells like snake poop, tastes like snake poop, must be snake poop!" Chong: "Good thing we didn't step in it man"
(Modified from a bit I saw live in 1970)
