Poop question...Feeding question

Alright, I'm setting the official deadline for Wed when I get home from work. I think that's plenty of time for the owner to come forward. (Plus I find myself rooting for no calls.)

So to the questions. I liked paranoika3's idea of getting him checked out at the vet for parasites, but I'm not going to be abe to take him until Fri at the earliest. (I couldn't see anything external.) Also, Kimble pooped today. (Looked ok to me consistency wise.) Should I save it for the vet somehow, or risk him maybe pooping again before I take him? I'm about 1hr away from the vet, so it would be nice to avoid two trips.

Second question...about feeding. I gave Kimble a small f/t pinkie Sat afternoon. It didn't leave a lump at all really, so I know it's not enough. However since he was a fugitive for who knows how long, I didn't want to over do it either. So I checked out the Munson Plan (awesome btw), and he fits into Stage 2...double pinkies. He's 14.5" long, about .5" wide at his most wide part, and he weighs 18.9 grams. I plan on feeding him Wed after I take down the posters, do you think that's too early? I think it's ok because he ate a small meal just fine, no regure, pooped ok, am I missing something?

Help and comments alway appreciated! Thank you guys for everything!

Only snake people will say dumb stuff like this, but yes, save the poop. Put it in a zip-lock and put in the frig until you go to the vet. Tell the vet you'd like him to do a fecal floatation. That is how he will find parasites. You can see the eggs (or oocysts) under a microscope.

You want to get the snake on a regular feeding schedule of every 5 to 7 days. I do 7 days because it is easier to remember every Sunday. If you're nuts, like Roy Munson, go for every 5 days. Wait until the next feeding day and then give the little guy 2 pinkies.

Hope nobody calls. I'd take down the posters today.

Thanks wade. I'm worried that I even thought of saving the poop! The only reason why I'm waiting til Wed is because maybe the owner was out of town for the long weekend. I would hope someone would do the same for me. I just want to make sure my karma is in check!

Is your vet open Saturday? Although your (his) (the snake's) poop would be a day older, the snake would have digested for three days before the stressful trip to the vet. And may also produce a fresher poop! When you call the vet, you can ask if the poop from today is ok, and if not, you can just wait till you get a fresh one, and then make an appointment for the next day. My vet will accept poops a few days old, as long as they are refrigerated and not dried out.

I found a digital camera when I was trail running once. I left the ad up at the trailhead for a month, and someone even thought they knew someone who lost a camera, so figured out their e-mail and wrote, and never heard anything. I loved that camera so much- it was my first of three Casio Exilims. I bought a better one after a while, and then a better one, and gave that first camera to someone on my pigeon rescue list who I knew would never be able to afford one, but was dying to share pics of her birds.

Sounds like you want me to go out and buy two snakes and give you Kimble?!? J/k! Thanks for the Vet advice, that's the plan I'm going with if they are open on Sat. I'm pretty sure they are, I'll check. Thanks Nanci!
