my year old corn has eaten and defecated with no problem whatsoever her whole life. Over the last 5 feedings she hasnt defecated at all. A week after every feeding when i first noticed this problem i put her in warm water and there she always defecates. Now i am worried becuase i have been doing this now for 5 weeks (5 feedings) and she will not go on her own. Am i not waiting long enough? She used to go between 3 and 5 days after eating. Now it goes for seven and i get so worried that i put her back in the warm water and let her soak. Let me know if there is anything i should be doing or should i continue the warm water seven days after feeding?

well, the older a corn grows, the more everything slows down a little bit. Just like you don't have to feed adults as often as young corns, older corns tend to go for longer between defacations. You might want to take her in though if its been 5 weeks without a single defacation. She may be suffering from impaction. Are you sure you just couldn't find it? try checking the viv over again, just to make sure. If she's a year old, she's still kinda small. Small snake=small poop

yup

The only reason that i know its not impaction is that i use newspaper as subtrate and feed her in a kritter keeper so theres nothing to impact her and i check all the time everywhere for poop and nothing at all

I had a very simmilar problem with my snake. He rarely pooped on his own. I gave him baths when I worried it had been too long, and gradually I've had to give him less and less soaks. I still don't know what the problem was, but he's happy and healthy.

I used to dip just the tail in water and within seconds he would crap (I never left his tail in the water for more than a minute), but this is when he was pooping 6 days a week (and never in the tank) so the bath trick was simply for sake of my own sanity. lol After switching to fuzzies this promptly stopped.

Like Jinx said, 5 weeks is a long time, but if there's no reason to suspect impaction then I would suggest stopping the baths and just leaving the snake be. She'll crap when the urge hits.

Are there any symptoms that you can think of? Sluggish behavior, can you see or feel anything near the vent? She's eating well (not refusing)? Has she shed since the pooping stopped?

Thanks Everyone!

Thank you everyone for your help! I actually waited a couple more days rather than every seven and on the 9th she went by herself. I think it might be just a slower metabolism due to the time of the year. Thank you everyone for your advice and i think i just need to be a little more patient next time lol :)
