One of my lavender babies was just born this a.m. and it looks like it has a poss kink in the end of its tail, either that or it has to go potty?? I'll try to post some pics asap.... (kinda almost looks like an L) Do you think I'll have to euthanise (?) it if it is a kink???

I agree that pics would be very useful... but I know of a few snakes born with kinks who have been fine their whole lives! Don't give up on the poor little thing just yet.

I would never dream of just giving up on my lil guys... esp. so quickly!!!! But Here are the pics...

Well, there he is... its so cute,... but to me it doesnt look like a lavender... its dad is hypo lav... could that be why????

thanx guys!!!!

:awcrap: That is such a shame. I wish you all the luck for your new lil ones. Are they all lavenders? I think lavenders are beautiful.

I have a hatchling with a rather bad kink in her neck, but she doesn't have any problems moving around and she's eating mouse tails, so I'm giving her a shot. :)

I think providing she can pass her first meal ok there shouldnt be any problems really. Good luck with her

Yes, they are both lavs. But they look pink, are lav babies normally pink @ birth??? This is my first time breeding lavs and it wasnt supposed to be until next yr anyway. Thank you for your wellwishes.. They are both moving around very well, and are very active The kinks are both near the cloaca.. I am going to take them to my rep. dealer and see what he thinks of them... either way, I am going to take care of them, just as if they were born normal.
I do have one other question though,. in the future, when they are old enough to breed, (I know I am thinking WAYYYYY to far in advance, but I need to seperate my breeders from my pets) I am thinking that I cannot breed them, because of these kinks, right? They will pass that defect on to the offspring, right???

Right, under no circumstance should you breed either of these.

Well, if in fact they do eat well for about a month and are as healthy as they can get, can I sell them as pets, at like a 10% reg price????? Would that be morally wrong? (ofc, I would deff tell them.)

They look very peachy pink, is it possible the parent are het for albino and those are opals? If I was you I would keep the little guys and see if they can eat and poop ok, if so then I would sell them as pets only. Is the kink before or after the vent area?

Kinked babies are generally placed in pet homes for free, not sold, as placing ANY monetary value on the snake may act as an incentive to breed in the future.

I was thinking it was possibly an opal!!!!!! That would be awsome!!!! As far as being Hypo, I believe that the father would be... but I have to ask the buyer I bought them again.... I have so many I forgot... I know they are lavs. but I forgot if she said hypo or what (stilll trying to get the hang of all this genetic thing.....) :p
