possible regurg

guitrage

Last night I saw what looked like feces in Keahi's cage, so I picked it up to throw away. Upon inspection, I discovered that it didn't have quite the same consistency as her poop usually does, and it had a different smell. It was slightly gelatinous, very dark in color, and it was about the same size as her poop usually is, maybe slightly larger. Should I treat this as a regurg and wait two weeks to feed her again (we just recently went through this!)? I can't tell for sure whether it was a regurg or just poop.

She last ate on Tuesday morning, I handled her and cleaned her cage Thursday morning, and I discovered the object in question thursday night. When I was cleaning her cage (ended up taking me close to an hour) she was in a little plastic container with no heat. Upon being put back into the clean cage, she went straight for the warm hide, and later that night I found this poop/regurg. Warm side is 85 F day and night, and cool side is about 75 F. This is just to give some idea of the situation.

So, what should I do? Wait two weeks and assume it was a regurg? My only concern with waiting is that she threw up a few weeks ago and I waited two weeks then (although she has successfully kept down a meal since then), and waiting two weeks again would be an awful lot of not eating; she's pretty thin. The poop/regurg was a very small amount; it's not like she threw up the whole meal (if it is in fact a regurg).

I'm thinking that I'm just going to go ahead and feed her Sunday as scheduled, but if anyone has any advice, I'd appreciate it.

If it were me, I would feed a pinky head (assuming that your snake is still a hatchling) at the regular time. Even if it was a regurge, a hatchling can still hold down a head with depleted stomach acids. The benefit of this is that they will at least get some nutrition. If your snake is thin and weakened, then it needs all the strength it can get; but at the same time you don't want to risk another regurgitation.
