Post Daytona Summary 2010

ArpeggioAngel

Around Here Somewhere....
Daytona has been and gone for another year.
It was amazing, awesome, wonderful, exciting, tiring and oh so much fun!!
I did manage to snag a few pics - but until I get my hard drive fixed - I hope some others will join in and post their pics here. Especially pics of all of us having a great time!
I had a fantastic time catching up with old friends and with finally being able to meet some of the group who had not been there before. I hope you all come again next year and that those who could not make it this year - can next year as well!!

As time and energy permits I will be adding to this thread some info and highlights of the weekend...

First off I would like to thank everyone who made our dinner and raffle a success for the 2nd year.
This includes Carol, Kathy, Nanci, Mindy, Robbie, Dave P, and many many more. There are just too many for me to name all of you but please know each one of you and your help was greatly appreciated. I roped a lot of people into helping me in various ways this year including set up of the raffle items, checking people in for dinner, collecting donations and lots of other random errands I needed help with. All of this would also not be possible without all the wonderful people who donated items for the raffle itself. I was worried with the NRBE auction also being for USARK that we would not get a lot of donations - but we surpassed the number we had last year!

We had I believe 57 people attend dinner. A few more showed up for the raffle. We raised over $1600 just on raffle tickets alone!!! A HUGE THANK YOU to all of you who contributed by purchasing tickets!! With the money raised from tshirt sales and a few extra donations through dinner - we should be pretty close to $1700 meaning we beat the amount we raised last year by close to $300!! I think that is just outstanding for our group!!!

Kathy Love won the Bechtel award. I am sure Bill will have some pictures we can post. Rich Z was on hand to pass the award to Kathy and he was also videotaping that night so hopefully we will get some video we can all watch as well. I was so glad that Rich and Connie joined us again!!

The raffle of course was wild and fun! A good time for everyone. Lots of prizes to lots of different people! I do have a list of the prizes and winners so hopefully I can get around to posting that as well.
I think next to the standing ovation Kathy received for winning the Bechtel award the most touching moment was when Jeff Mohr won the adult okeetees and gave them to Beth. She had wanted those snakes so badly! I am not kidding - I almost cried while everyone was clapping!!

So THANK YOU again to everyone who helped me organize, plan, hash out details, donated prizes, bought raffle tickets and came and had a good time! Without every one of you this would not be possible.

And PLEASE - if you have pics - post 'em here!!

Katie, you are the most amazing and wonderful person and I want to thank you for making possible one of the best nights of my life.
It was fantastic, and I will never forget it!

We have pics to post, but they won't be ready for a few days. We have been up since 3:30 this morning and I have 2 clutches pipping and snakes coming tomorrow (I think). But we will get them up soon.

Already I can't wait til next year!!

I completely agree, and BOY would I LOVE to be on that waiting list!
I second that motion!!! lol it was my first year attending the show and the raffle and i have to say it was VERY fun!!! it was a pleasure putting some faces to names and winning some raffle prices!!:dancer:

Sounds like you all had such a blast. Next year I'd love to go!!! Maybe we could meet up with a few people to make the trip not sooo long lol

Congrats on the pair of beauties Beth!! I'd love to see pics!

And a big congrats to you, Katie, for pulling off what seems to sound like a wonderful, perfect night!

Correction / addition

"...There was also another adult crested gecko and a gargoyle gecko but I neglected to write down who donated them."

I received a message that it was Eco Severa who donated those.

If anyone else knows of any additions or corrections, please let me know.

Thanks!

Did anyone post the group photo from the dinner/raffle anywhere, and photo of Kathy accepting the Bechtel award?

Expo photos...

Chuck and Connie's toddler fell asleep amidst my snakes for sale on Fri, while preparing for the show. We got some good offers, but they declined the sale.
