Potential diffused motleys

The parents are het for motley pewter. I thought I'd take some pics before they left here. I think these may or may not be diffused motleys, but of course only breeding trials would answer that. ;)

This is the first one...

This other one looks like even more of an obvious candidate. :shrugs: All I know is I'd love to have a charcoal like that. ;)

Those are beautiful hatchlings! But I'm curious...could a homozygous motley and diffuse possibly show the typical motley dorsal pattern? From what I've seen, diffuse generally affects the side and belly pattern but leaves the dorsal pattern alone.

Yeah, the motley in this line originated from a banded motley. The motleys that are just motleys... are banded motleys, too. :santa:

So yeah, that definitely complicates things. It would be much more of an indicator if you had, say a skull head pattern, diffused side pattern, and connected saddles all the way to the vent. I'm hoping to see these myself.

We'll have F2s from other crosses coming up over the next few years, so it will be interesting to see comparisons between different lines. :)

OK! Thanks Serp! I was just wondering if the addition of diffuse to motley affected the dorsal pattern of the motley gene, but working with banded motleys does sort of throw some curves in there!

Chuck, I'm selling those "?? Corn" labels this year if you need some. I think those labels are going to become increasingly in demand over the next several years.... :grin01:

Will they all come with a price tag of $500? :grin01:

Heh heh, yeah we'll be needing some of those with a few of the projects going on here. :grin01:
