power feeding,bad?

Same consequences as for obese people: health problems and early death.

Power feeding is usually undertaken by those too impatient to wait for their snakes to reach breeding size. Can't really think of any other reason for it, other than "wanting to own a big snake", in which case - why not buy one to start with?

i don't know if im power feeding my snake,i feed it every 7days around 3 pinkie,am i power feeding? my corn is a hatchling around 3-4months old

It's not good to feed more than one food item an a time. when an owner feed two food items it's because they are bumping up to the next size and they are getting the snake use to a larger meal. I would feed your snake a fuzzy or hopper. It really depends on the girth of the snake. I follow the rule of feeding an food item that is 1 1/2 time the snake girth.

I'd say you were power feeding - not many Corns that age could keep three pinkies down. 1 pinkie every 5 days is pretty standard for a Corn that age.

thanks guys :) i'll do what you said,i'll just upgrade my feeding from 3 pinkie to 1 fuzzies per week :)

(Oh my gosh. There are tarsiers in the Philippines. You lucky duck, you.)

My hatchlings are on 1 pinkie or one peach fuzzy every five days. :shrugs: I can't believe your hatchling can keep three pinkies down. That sounds dangerous to me.

You are not power feeding your snake. If it is large enough to take a fuzzy, and pinkies are all you have, then feeding 3 pinkies ("small" pinkies, not pinkies that are almost fuzzies) once a week is just fine as long as it is digesting them.

To add to Susan's post, I was too scared to move up to fuzzies for a while as I couldn't get small fuzzies and to me the jump looked too big. So I fed multiple pinkies for a number of weeks to get him used to bigger meals and to ease my own fears!

Aside: he's turned out to be a monster, but is all muscle, so I would not consider this 'blip' in his childhood a factor!
