Hey Everyone! So my clutch of 9 just hatched from my female butter and male montley stripe. I thought the hatchlings were going to be all normals, I was incredibly wrong. 3 were normal, one was black and white like antheristic, and the rest were a pinkish like albino. I do not know if these are special morphs, as I didn't know what my breeders were het for. Anyhow, my Italian wall lizards babies are hatching as well. I emailed my local reptile store about his prices for captive bred (they only buy captive bred) and said it was my first time doing this (stupid). He said that normal corns go for $8 each and if the others are special they will be worth more. Also, the baby wall lizards are $3-$5 each. What I want to know is whether these are fair prices or am I being cheaped out. I bought the adult Italians for $20 each and the butter corn for $80 (sub-adult). What do you guys think on this?

I think those are probably typical wholesale prices for a reptile store. You're lucky your store pays cash for them, many stores only offer in store credit. If you sold them directly to the public you could ask for more, but you are going to have a lot more trouble selling them, esp the normals. Raising reptiles on a small scale isn't a big money making opportunity I'm afraid.

Those sound about right for selling several to a shop at the moment. I've been told £5 each is standard for Normals here in the UK.

Shops will sell to their customers for much higher prices. These days, Corns can stay in the shop for weeks or months, and even then, will eat most of the potential profit before being sold.

Difficult to say without pics and knowing the parents' exact parentage, but they're likely to be Anerys and Snows, which are some of the most common morphs and not worth much more than Normals.

wow i feel sorry for you all lol i sell my normal corns to pet shops for $20 a pop! kinda glad i live in Canada :p

i asked pretty much the sale question about wholesale pricing, and was pretty much told i should be happy to get anything for them the way the market is. good luck!

Well if you are selling to the shop 8-10 is a real good price for a normal. 15 is a good price for an amel, anery, snows.

If you were selling on your own you "might" get about 5 more for the normals (15-20) and about 25 for the others. However, as someone else has mentioned, you will be holding on to them for a while. It might cost you more feeding and caring for them.

If the shop is paying in cash I'd take it. If they are paying in credit and you shop there often, I'd take it. Basically if your getting what you feel is a good deal and you trust the shop to care for the snakes while they are there. Sounds like you have a good outlet for any that you can't find homes for.
