quail egg treat?

so :

today, the little gourmet shop around the corner had quail eggs in (as they often do), so I picked up a dozen for my twins , who love them hard-boiled (because the shells are so pretty).

one of my sons asked if Clementine might like one -- & I know I've seen discussion/debate here about feeding quail eggs to corns. is there any reason to or not to? & if I were to feed her quail eggs, would it be along with her wkly mouse? or instead of? & if instead of, how many? I imagine they need to come up to room temperature first? hmm.

this already sounds complicated as a "treat" & that it might make more sense to stick to f/t mice...

Go ahead and try it. My corns will eat slides of hard boiled eggs, so no reason not to offer a quail egg. Corns will eat a lot more than purely mice out in Florida, so a bit of variation can't hurt.

You could offer the egg 'as is' or hard boil it and offer the inside.

I've fed quail eggs before. Two things, to memory mine usually only ate them really fresh (I had some quail at the time, ones still warm from laying were relished), and wouldn't touch old ones. Not sure why. Secondly, the downside is much like when you feed chicks. It's great until it comes out the other end. The feces were FOUL! Or fowl, lol!

I would also consider the possibility of the snake only wanting quail eggs in the future and possibly refusing mice. Not sure how much the eggs cost compared to mice but just something I would consider.

That's a rarity, and corns are garbage guts for the most part. Plus, make a rodent bleed a bit and offer it to a corn that hasn't eaten in 6 months and you'll probably lose a few fingers as well.

WOW! you should pass this on to all the people on here with non-feeders, I'm sure it is a sure thing.

the quail egg doesn't have to be fertilized does it? i read some where that they had to be? also, would u just give it to them raw?
