Questioin bout red light bulbs.

Hey all,
Long time now chat. Hope everyone is doing ok. Anyways, I was wondering, for my heat lamp I but the 100 watt red heat lights for my snake. They are like $13.99 each. I seen red regular light bulbs in a store and was wondering if these can be used from time to time if needed. Or whatever. If anyone could let me know then it would be greatly appricated. Tks again all. Later

i do know that if the lights arent on a thermostat/rheostat they way over do the heat...same with regular red light bulbs as well, and supposedly snake cant see the red light but i think thats wrong cause every time i turn it on and leave they never come out but as soon as i turn it off theyre all over the place....anyway from my understanding as long as it does the heating job if thats what your using it for i dont see why it wouldnt work

Snakes can definately see red light! Snakes, like most reptiles see far better than humans!

I don't know that a standard red colored light bulb is quite the same. UV/heat/night-heat bulbs are usually treated with chemicals and contain components that can handle the higher levels of heat emitted. You may want to look into how long they last as UV bulbs are only good for 6-9 months as the chemical treatment on them breaks down.
