question about feeding a hatchling

I recently got my first corn snake (or reptile of any kind for that matter) and was curious how often to feed him. as best I can figure he is about 2 months old. I have read so much stuff online that contradicts each other that I just want a definate answer. Thanks for the help.

At that age, I'd say one pinky every 5 days is pretty standard.

However, there isn't a "definitive" answer. Keep your eye on his weight and increase/decrease feeind as necessary. Individual Corns grow at different rates.

Knowing how much to feed was the most difficult thing for me in getting my corn Pangaea. I agree, there's a lot of variance online! The only thing I could ever find that definitively stated how much to feed was the Munson Plan, created by a user on this forum. You can search it in the forums. The only downside to this is many new snake owners (myself included) had no idea a weighing scale would be necessary. I finally broke down and purchased one, because it makes me feel a lot more secure in what I'm feeding.

A lot of experienced owners will feed by "common sense", but to be honest, in my novice, I don't have a lot of common sense regarding this area! That's why the Munson plan is great for me.

I did read something once online from a pretty detailed corn care guide that suggested moving to two pinkies once the snake can gobble one down with tremendous ease. After that, the care guide said to move to fuzzies once the snake is taking two pinkies with the same ease. In following the Munson Plan, I find that I was doing pretty much that.

I'm by no means as experienced as most on here, and have had my own first corn snake for three or four months.

I just fed my corn for the first time and as long as he is eating easily and the mice is only about 1.5 times the width of the snake you are fine. One good rule of thumb is that you should feed again when he is not pooping daily which means he has digested all the food in his system and is ready for more. Hope that helps.

I have to disagree with this. Popcorn gets fed 2x pinks every 7days. She is fed on Saturday am & usually poops on Monday & again on Tuesday when I take her out to handle her. She doesn't normally poop again after that so according to this theory I would be feeding popcorn 2x pinks every 3-4days. I'm by no means an expert, Ive only had popcorn for about 2months ish, but I would think that feeding on that basis would be considered power feeding & would probably lead to my snake becoming overweight. Corn snakes dont poop that much & in my experience,so far, dont poop at all when they are in blue/pre shed so devising a feeding plan based on his or her pooping is probably not an accurate way to do it. As has been said before, feeding is very personal to the owner & the individual snake but I would think your good on feeding 1x pink every 5days or so right now.
