Question about feeding asf pinkies.

I just got two 5 week old corns. I raise african soft furred rats for my ball pythons.

I have been freezing the newborn pinkies on the day they are born so I would have some for the corns. I am worried because they look to big for those little snakes.

Has anyone else fed these to their baby corns?

How do you tell if they are to big?

Thanks

A bigger hatchling can usually handle them. They grow fast but if you get them the same day they are born they are about the same as a large mouse pinky... The food item should be no larger than 1 1/2 times the girth of the snake regardless of what species of rodent. I find they are a bit too big for newly hatched corns but after they have gotten a few mouse pinkies down they can handle it.

Just thought I would follow up on this.

13 new ASF pinkies were born during the night so I offered each corn a pinky with no interest. So I put two live pinkies in each cage and left for work. Both corns now have nice stomach bulges and are relaxing in their hides.
No ASF pinkies in either cage. Thats a relief.

Next feeding will be f/t.

Thanks for the replies.
