Question about moving from pinkies to fuzzies

Hey all - Our new guy (about six months old) has been eating three pinkies per feeding so tomorrow I'm starting him on fuzzies. My questions is...should I only offer one at first? Or should I offer two and see if he takes it? This is our first snake so I don't know if they know when to stop or if they eat everything in front of them like it's All You Can Eat at Sizzler.

Thanks!

Casey

I'd probably just give him 1 fuzzy and see how well he does on that. You don't want to over do it & have him regurge. :)

I agree with Sarah. My snakes are like me at a Sizzler.....if you knew me you would know that's not a good thing.....:D

Good call. In the wild they're opportunistic feeders and may eat anything/everything they come across. There's definitely a risk that yours might eat too much at one sitting and regurge. One fuzzie at a time is fine. It's always best to take it slow, especially when moving up to the next sized food.

Usually when they get big enough for two fuzzies, they're able to take small mice - and that's the next step ahead again. No need to rush. At six months old he's only a baby still. He has 15+ years to be a grown-up!
