Question about the hidebox..

This question may seem odd but it's something I have been wondering about lately. I have a leopard gecko as well as my Kernal (my corn snake's name!) and I was toying with the idea of putting a hidebox with some wet moss inside into my snake tank. If I do this do I need to place the wet box in a cool area or should I place it more on the uth? Like I said, it may be a stupid question but I have been very curios about this. What do you think?

A moist hide is not really necessary at all for corns, unless they have shed problems etc.

Too much exposure to damp conditions can cause skin problems.

And not enough humidity can cause shed problems.

This is a situation where a qualifying question should be asked before offering "textbook" advice.....oh, like.....

"What's the current humidity in your snake's viv?", and...."Is Kernal in blue right now?"

Outside of the fact that the response doesn't even directly answer the question, i.e., where should the moist hide go (if one is required).

And no, laanxx, it's not a stupid question. FWIW, my moist hides, when needed, are on the cool side (to minimize evaporation).

My 2 cents.

regards,
jazz
