question about water

i read that you shouldn't give snakes tap water and that you should give them bottled water, and i talked to my mom and she said that if you let tap water sit for 24 hours that the chlorine would evaporate. Is it just the chlorine that is bad for your snake, or is there other stuff u shouldn't give it in the water. (my mom wasn't too excited about getting a snake neways, and she would be happier if we didn't have to buy bottled water for it.)

well, there is also flouride in tap water that can be harmful to a snake. If you still want to give it tap water Zoomed has a water additive that you can buy. You put a couple of drops of the liquid in the water prior to giving it to the snake and it removes the chlorine and flouride, and adds calcium and other vitamins to the water. The additive is called: Reptisafe.

You should be able to find this at any pet store that carries or sells reptiles and anphibians.

I've never given anything other than tap-water to my snakes, but I do filter it first (in a Brita pitcher).

I've talked to a lot of other breeders and they say they only use tap-water as well.
