Question "Viv"

I usually only hear this term when it is referring to a glass or plexi glass type setup..If that helps at all..lol

I'm the other way round! I use "tank" for an all-glass aquarium-type setup, and "viv" or "vivarium" for the melamine ones with sliding glass doors at the front.

As usual with all things Corns Snakey, there seems to be more than one answer! Better get used to that....

When I hear Viv or Vivarium, I think of either a tank or melamine enclosure with a glass front set up, that may have "extra" furniture in it, like vines, climbing sticks, houses, a nice substrate etc. But that is just me.

I had never heard of a "vivarium" until I started posting here, but it makes sense to me...

IMO, tank is a generic term for the container... the [fill-in-the-blank]+arium tells you what is inside the tank.

Aqua= water, Terra = earth, and Viv = life

...so to me, a viv would suggest a living creature, as opposed to just plants. (of course, I know plants are living things too, but I don't need to split hairs. lol)
