Just wanted to let you all know that Osiris died last week. I found him in his tank last week dead. I am so heart broken. I only had him for 3 mths but he kept regurging even after i followed ALL the regurg protocols. I have a feeling the ppl i bought him from knew he was sick and thats why they got rid of him. I spent $500 buy all new items for him from tank, to hydrofoam to accessories. Just wanted to say a BIG Thank You to everyone for ALL your help and answering all my regurg/etc questions. Greatly appreciated. Who knows, maybe eventually I will buy another snake and have more questions for ya. lol But for now my wife dont want me to waste anymore money in "creepy" (her words, not mine lol) things. Take care everyone. Take care of yer precious babies.

I'm so sorry to hear that. If I could ship to Canada I'd love to send you a healthy baby or adult. Don't let this make you give up on snakes!!! It wasn't your fault. Something was wrong from the beginning.

I am so sorry for your loss :( I have only had my scalebabies for a few months, and I can honestly say I'd be devastated if I lost one. They certainly know how to wrap themselves around our hearts <3

I hope you are able to try again someday soon. Sometimes things don't turn out the way we hoped in the beginning, but everything eventually works out.

I'm so sorry for your lose. My girlfriend is the same way about "creepy" things. I hope one day you try again. I wouldn't give up on sometyhing you obviously seem to be passionate about, it seems like you did everything you could and were a great snake guardian.

I'm so sorry for your loss. There are others out there that could certainly use a home as good as yours! Please don't give up. My boyfriend hates my snakes, but I couldn't imagine not having at least one at this point. Maybe you could compromise by putting the snake in a room where she doesn't go often?

Thanks everyone. Means a lot that you guys care. Its still a shock that he is gone. I think I am gonna try something different this time around. I always wanted a lizard but my wife HATES them more then snakes BUT I finally convinced her so I thinking bout getting a chinese water dragon. Anyone have one that can give me tips on how they are for pets and etc?

I wouldn't recommend lizards like that one, most of the green ones are finnickier to care for, and possibly more aggressive. A bearded dragon or a tegu would be my recommendation for one of the larger and docile lizards, easier to care for (both about 3ft at adult size). If you want something smaller, cohabitable, and adorable, I'd recommend leopard geckos. You can have up to 3 in a 20gal Long tank, recommended 30 though. They have adorable smiley faces and with the fat stores can go without food for your weekend trips without much problem (gotta get their tails nice and fat first though). That way you could both "have" one to take out (because they're too damn adorable for your gf to have a problem in the long run!!). Also, leo's can use pretty much all the same stuff that a corn snake does, with one or two additional dishes for food and supplements. Sterilised if used already, of course.

I'm really sorry that your snake didn't make it, hopefully you find another scaly friend in future :)

I second the leopard gecko recommendation. In addition to all the things Dreakaar said, they also come in an assortment of pretty colors, similar to corn snakes. The only downside is they do have to be fed live crickets or mealworms. If you abhor the thought of feeding bugs, another good option would be a crested gecko. They can be just as tame as a leopard gecko but will eat a powder mix. They just don't come in as many fun colors.

I'll third the "anything but a water dragon" vote. They really don't make very good captives without LOTS of enclosure specification. Leopard or crested geckos are a much better choice, and handle better. Sorry for your loss.

Thanks for the tips. I picked water dragon cause i wanted a lizard that I can pick up and not have to worry about how fast it is to get away when my lil boy wants to take it up. lol Any ideas? I also dont want crickets. I dont care about meal worms or etc but my wife id dead set AGAINTS crickets to. I dont mind picking up a few once or twice a wk to throw in the tank but something that will survive on mealworms, waxworms etc.

Blue tongue skinks make excellent pet lizards. They eat just about anything. I fed mine dogfood and veggies.

I have a blue tongue too, they are super cool lizards. They are are like little reptilian dachshunds, with their long bodies (18-24in) and short legs. Easy to feed too, mostly canned dog food with chopped veggies, occasional fruit and mine loves dubia roaches.

We also have a leopard gecko and he is fun, he also eats dubia roaches.

I'm with your wife, I don't do crickets either. Noisy, jumpy buggers that will eat your carpet. Blech!

I am sorry about your snake, but I saw someone recommend
A tegu? Aren't those the vicious lizards that can tear your fingers off?

Sorry about your snake. Good luck with your next pet.
